2018 Closet Intentions

Capsule Wardrobe Minimalism2018 is going to bring a lot of change in my life with the addition of our first child! I can’t wait to meet her! This year I want to set an intention for my wardrobe taking into consideration my pending lifestyle changes and personal growth from the past year of capsule wardrobes. Here are my intentions for my closet this year:

1. Find a happy medium between function and personal style.

Breastfeeding is going to be a new thing for my this year and I’ll need my wardrobe to accommodate and function, but I want to keep the nursing friendly pieces in my wardrobe in tune with my personal style. I’ve already found some great online shops that offer beautiful pieces for new moms like myself.

2. Invest in quality pieces, especially denim.

I looooove denim. After starting my first capsule I knew I wanted to invest in some high quality denim in the fall months because I truly live in denim jeans. Then, I found out I was pregnant and let go of that intention, as I didn’t want to fork over a bunch of money for maternity jeans, despite the fact that I still live in them daily. I’m not sure why that is. Maybe because it feels like such a temporary phase, or maybe it was the distraction of the big push of finishing off our basement before the baby comes. Either way, it’s back at the top of my list and will probably happen this fall after baby and after my body has settled back to “normal.”

3. Live better with less, especially as my body changes.

This winter I’m going to participate in my first 10×10 Challenge hosted by Caroline and Lee (this post was actually inspired by her Closet Mission series!), which will be a really fun challenge!

4. Be effective with my purchases and love every piece I add to my wardrobe.

I want to try and keep my clothing purchases to a minimum and really love every piece I add to my wardrobe, but I’m not going to crazy stress about having the perfect or “instagram-worthy” closet, especially as my body works on settling down postpartum. I’m just going to take it in strides and be kind to myself and body and not worry too much about the “capsule” label, but still keep things to a mindful minimal.

5. Redefine my personal style.

Maybe, it’s my pending motherhood or the fact that I turn 31 in a few days, but I can feel my style evolving. So, in 2018 I want to explore that.
