My Current Clean Skincare Routine (AM & PM)

Clean beauty skincare routine

I had a skincare Oprah style Ah-Ha! moment last year. I have dry skin, not oily combination skin like I thought. You’re probably thinking to yourself, Kitty, how did you not know you had dry skin for literally your entire life? Well, hear me out. I’ve had acne since middle. Back then the go-to remedy was ProActive. I got my mom to order it and from then on I always thought if I have acne I must also have oily skin and used products that said they were intended for oily/combination skin.

Then last summer after talking about my skin with my sister, I thought to myself, what if I’ve actually had dry skin this whole time like her?? So I totally changed my skincare routine to be super nourishing and hydrating and guess what? It worked.

I also stopped using any products with essential oils. So many “clean beauty” or “natural beauty” products contain essential oils. Turns out they’re super irritating to my skin and I was layering them on every day.

I paired down my skincare routine and it’s been working great for me for a year now and thought I’d share what I’ve been using.

MORNING SKINCARE

Beautycounter Vitamin C Serum
Vitamin C is great at brightening the skin and has helped even out my skin tone. Be sure you wear sunscreen everyday while using a Vitamin C serum (and just in general) because it makes your skin more photosensitive.

Beautycounter No.1 Brightening Facial Oil
I realllllly love this stuff. It smells nice and hydrates my dry skin without leaving it oily.

SuperGoop Sunscreen
I’m a diehard when it comes to sunscreen. The higher the protection the better. Not only does it keep your skin looking youthful, but I have a lot of skincare history in my family and am not taking my chances.

EVENING SKINCARE

Botanical B Enzyme Cleansing Oil
I’ve been using this cleansing oil for at least 5 years now and would never change. It’s just the best. I use it even if I didn’t wear makeup to make sure I got all my sunscreen off.

Beautycounter Refresh Foaming Cleanser
I use it because I have it and it’s good but I’ve also use CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser in my shower and that works great too (and much cheaper).

Beautycounter Overnight Resurfacing Peel
This stuff is great at keeping any whiteheads or clogged pores at bay. I suggest to only use it every other or every 3 days if you have dry skin or new to peel products.

Beautycounter No.1 Brightening Facial Oil
I use this both AM and PM to keep my skin hydrated.

Salty Face Gradual Face Tanner
A new addition to my routine has been this gradual face tanner. I like having a subtle tan because I don’t feel the need to wear makeup or very little. I use it the nights I’m not using the peel or I’ll just use it in the mornings. I’ve never used a tanning oil like this it. It has no smell, doesn’t rub off on your pillow, dries without any tacky or sticky finish and leaves a nice subtle tan! It’s magic.
