Joel’s parents, Hal and Mary, planned the most amazing groom’s dinner for our entire wedding group off the coast of Tamarindo, Costa Rica. It was the day before the wedding, all of our friends and family waited on the beach to be queued onto these long dingy boats that would shuttle us out to the catamaran. The sun was bright and air warm, but the windy was rocking and threw those little dingy’s all over the place. If you sat in the front the ride out to the catamaran was a wet and wild rollercoaster, which is of course where I sat. I was soaked. It was awesome.

Joel’s 92 year old grandpa Hank even made the trip down to Costa Rica from Minnesota! He’s truly an amazing and inspiring guy. He was a paratrooper in WWII, loves vodka gimlets and is the most laid back, sharp old man I know.

Some family are big huggers, while others are long-winded goodbye people, not the Langevin’s. They are speech people. At the helm is Joel’s dad Hal (guy above on the left). He is the patriarch of the Langevin clan and never fails to end a speech without his lifelong slogan-motto-matra, “We’re not here for a long time. We’re here for a good time!” Before we got married, Joel and I had been dating for nearly 10 years. We’ve known each others families and friends for nearly a decade, so the stories and speeches kept on rolling.

This is my younger sister, Kimberly. She’s my only sibling and we’ve been close since the day she was born, which was easily my favorite day of childhood. I was four when she was born. I looked forward to my pending big sister duties like most kids wait for Santa on Christmas Eve. When she arrived, I was so proud. I pranced around in my “big sister” shirt given to me that day. Seriously, ask my mom. I was obsessed with that kid.

We had such an incredible time out all day on the catamaran soaking in scenery and cocktails, then watching the sunset just off the beach of Tamarindo! Huge thank you to Joel’s parents for such a wonderful experience!
