I’ve been using natural skincare products for years, but it wasn’t until a few months ago that I got really into natural makeup products. The more I learned about all the toxic chemicals found in typical drugstore and high end makeup brands, the deeper I dove into finding healthy, clean makeup products to replace my drawer of chemical creams and toxic powders. It’s been a process. I’ve replaced all but one or two items in my makeup collection with clean, green products that I absolutely love!
Changing over your entire makeup collection to clean products can feel daunting at first. My suggestion is to replace once you finish off a product. Doing it in stages is easier on your wallet and gives you time to discover new green beauty brands that work for your skin. Here are my current top 6 green makeup brands – perfect for beginners!
RMS Beauty – I’m pretty much obsessed with this brand. I have 3 things from them (uncover up in 00, lip2cheek in modest and master mixer) and have their up powder on my wishlist. There ingredients are super clean and everything I’ve used from them blends into my skin seamlessly. It never feels – or looks – like I’m wearing a lot of makeup. A huge bonus is their packaging – it’s ALL recyclable!
Juice Beauty – I’ve been in love with their skincare for ages – their green apple peel is a holy grail product for me. I’ve recently added their tinted moisturize in sand to my collection as my sunscreen, AM moisturizer and sheer foundation. It gives my skin a beautifully natural, dewy look.
Jane Iredale – Their pure pressed powder foundation is a cult favorite and for good reason! It’s the best powder foundation I’ve ever used. Hands down. The coverage is great and it blends well into my skin with a little misting of a hydrosol spray. They have a wide range of makeup products to pick from!
W3LL People – My two favorite products from W3LL People are their mascara and bronzing powder. Seriously amazing stuff. Their mascara is the only natural mascara that doesn’t give me fallout! Their bronzing powder is the perfect shade of tan – not too dark, not orangey or too shimmery. It just gives you a super healthy, natural glow.
Plume – The struggle to find a natural mascara that works is real. Or at least it is for me. In the meantime, Plume lash growth serum is great for fuller, longer lashes. So, if you never find the perfect mascara it’s okay! Your lashes with be lookin’ good naked. I’ve even got a 15% off discount code for you! US folks use: KITTYCOTTEN and Canadian folks use: KITTYCOTTENCAD
Kosas – Kosas is a beautiful line of clean lipsticks. They are very transparent about their ingredients. I read an article talking about all the hidden chemicals in lipsticks and I was shocked! Many conventional lipsticks include chemicals for preservation that are linked to cancer – and were putting it right on our lips! Thankfully there are a lot of amazing green lipstick brands on the market, but Kosas is my current favorite. I’ve found my perfect MLBB (my lips but better) shade named stardust – and I’m in love.3
