DIY Cork Mouse Pad

Lately, I’ve been jazzing up my office and knew a cork mouse pad would look perfect next to my computer. I love, love office supply stores, but couldn’t find the mouse pad I had in mind, so I decided to make my own. I even edged it with gold leaf flakes!

Using a round plate as your template, trace a circle on the foam and cork sheets. Then cut out both circles.

Spray glue one side of the foam circle and lay the cork circle on top. Keep the circles flat and pressed together by placing them under a couple of heavy books, then let dry. Brushes the edges with Mod Podge and lightly layer on the gold leaf. Repeat until you’ve gone all the way around, then let dry. Using your sponge brush, softly brush away the loose gold leaf.

Seal the gold leaf in place with a coat of Mod Podge. And you’re done!

this cork is too thin for this use. it warps and doesn’t lay flat. is there not a thicker cork avalble that you could recommend? or possibly some material to back the cork with in order to help it lay flat?
